Who we are

Origo Psychology is responsible for personal information processed in connection with the services we provide, subject to the arrangements in place with individual practitioners, independent practitioners and external professional service providers. What we collect

Depending on the service provided, this may include identity and contact details, information about parents, carers and relevant professionals, health and psychological information such as developmental history and clinical findings, assessment results, safeguarding information, and administrative details like appointments and invoices. Health and psychological information is special category data under UK data protection law.

Why we use it

To provide assessment, diagnostic and therapeutic services; to communicate with you about appointments and reports; to prepare reports and recommendations; to maintain clinical records; to manage fees and administration; to identify and respond to safeguarding concerns; and to deal with complaints and regulatory requirements.

Lawful basis

We identify the appropriate lawful basis for each activity, which may include contract, legal obligation, vital interests, legitimate interests or consent. For special category health information, we also identify the applicable Article 9 condition.

Who we may share information with

The treating psychologist and authorised practitioners, independent practitioners and external service providers involved in delivering the service, parents or carers where appropriate, other health, education or social care professionals where appropriate, safeguarding services or the police where necessary, and professional advisers, insurers, IT providers or regulators where required by our practice or the law. We share only the minimum information necessary.

Confidentiality

Information shared during assessment and therapy is normally treated as confidential. It may occasionally need to be disclosed without consent where there is a serious risk of harm, a safeguarding concern, or a legal obligation to do so.

How long we keep it

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary, in line with a records retention schedule that takes account of the type of information, the client's age, professional guidance, and legal and regulatory requirements. Records relating to children and young people may be retained for longer where appropriate.

Your rights

You may have the right to request access to your information, to have inaccurate information corrected, and to request restriction, objection or erasure, subject to applicable exemptions. We normally respond to a valid request within one month.
