Frequently asked questions

Questions people ask us most

If what you need isn't here, just ask. We're happy to talk anything through before you commit to a thing.

Who are your assessments for?

Our assessments are for children, young people and adults who may be seeking clarity about autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or ADHD.

How long does an assessment take?

The length of the assessment process varies depending on the individual and the type of assessment. We will provide an estimated timeline after the initial consultation.

What happens after the assessment?

We will provide a clear report with findings and personalised recommendations. We also discuss these with you in a feedback session.

Will I receive a written report?

Yes. You will receive a comprehensive written report following the assessment, which includes findings, recommendations and guidance.

What happens if I don't meet the criteria for a diagnosis?

You will still receive a clear understanding of your strengths and challenges, along with personalised recommendations and guidance on next steps.

Is my ASD or ADHD assessment valid for the NHS?

Our assessments follow NICE guidelines and are conducted by a qualified Counselling Psychologist. Reports are accepted by the NHS for referral, support and treatment planning. If you are hoping to move to NHS shared care for ADHD medication, it is worth checking your local arrangements with your GP first, as these vary between areas.

Is my information kept confidential?

Yes. We follow strict confidentiality standards in line with professional and legal requirements. Your privacy is very important to us. Our privacy notice explains what we hold and why.

Can I have someone with me during the assessment?

Yes. For children and young people, we encourage a parent or carer to be involved. For adults, you are welcome to have a support person if you wish.

Do you offer support after the assessment?

Yes. We offer therapy, consultation and advice to support you or your family following the assessment, if needed.

Do you work with parents and carers?

Yes. We often involve parents and carers in the assessment process and provide guidance and support tailored to the whole family.

Where are sessions held?

Assessments and therapy sessions are available both in person and online, depending on your preference and needs.
